Up and running!

image

Logged in my first training run on my treadmill – that is finally working!
Felt great to get moving again!
That was a long break and man will I know it tomorrow, but in the end it will be worth it.

I managed to work in arm weights too, while walking.

My first personal goal is to burn 500 calories each day, which is about 4 miles depending on my speed. Next is working on distance and speed. I have a long way to go, if I was a time under 2 hours next year. But I know I can do it!
Sorry this is short I am typing on my android, and on about 4 hours of sleep!
More tomorrow!

Machine out of order until further notice

I feel like I am waiting in an airplane, taxied to our point on the tarmac and waiting. I hate to fly by the way- and I hate to wait too.
Well I am waiting for my next new part for my treadmill. I will say it now- if it doesn’t get freezing cold, snow and rain from about Dec 26th until March 15- I will be very disappointed. I bought the treadmill so I could get in my runs during my husband’s crazy work schedule and the weather. It has sat unused for too long.
And I am SO type A about somethings- like I cannot start this whole workout play without the treadmill part. I know I could be working out with my Wii- if my kids didn’t kill my remotes batteries every day!- but if I can’t do it all then why start?

So I will be waiting- and staring at my scale as it creeps closer to 195 instead of the 180s- and wait for my treadmill part on Monday (I pray!)

And we are off and running! well not exactly…

Yes I am all registered for the 2012 Chicago Half Marathon on 9.9.12! I managed to pull myself out of bed at 545 am so I could get the first 200 people to purchase registration for half price! Which sold out of that part out in just 20 minutes!
Repair guy was awesome, very professional and understood I needed this done quickly. It is the end bracket that was broken, so replacing that should correct the slipping problem- we hope! That new part should be here on Friday or Saturday!

Meanwhile, I have a head cold and start of a sore throat. Which for me is par for the course of season changing. We went from 90s to 60s back to 90 to 70s over the last two weeks! Being sick doesn’t shock me at all. Also I have three in school, with all the germs coming in my door now. (update: left ear infections, and start of cold- z pack to the rescue with ib!)

I did do my measurements for comparison sake really. I want to see if I notice a change in the next 90 days. I am by no means bragging or complaining with these numbers- for they are what they are:
Weight : 191
waist: 41
hips: 43
Wrist (L) : 6.5
forearm (L): 10
Bicep (L): 13
Ribs/Chest: 40
Calf (L): 15
Quad (L): 22
Total current BMI :29.9
All numbers are pounds and inches respectively.

For an active life style, according to Active.com states that 2736 calories are required to loose weight down to 131 (goal set for Feb 2 2012). Personally that is a huge amount of calories, as I average 900-1200 calories normally. I am hoping to add protein as my main calories.
Nutritional breakdown also according to Active.com:
Carbs: 308-445 (divided by 4 is @ 77-111.4)
Protein: 69-240 (divided by 4 is @ 17.2 – 60)
Fat: 61-107 (divided by 9 is @ 6.6 – 11.8)
Calories not grams, then by grams.

I am going to be using My Fitness Pal, an application available for most formats, to help me log all my food. You are welcome to join me on there my user name is madmamaof4. I love this app because there are so many restaurants already listed- name brands that people have already entered- and you can scan the UPC code on some of your items!

For my exercise I will log it in to MFP but I will also be sing NOOM another application, that allows me to track my running with GPS when I go outside. Or I can log in manually my treadmill runs, aerobic activities, and other such calorie burning choices!

Hopefully tomorrow my treadmill will be repaired! And my husband is home all weekend!!!

Leave a comment, advice, or just say hi!

365 days… and counting down!

Well tomorrow morning 9/13/11 I will purchase my entry for the 2012 Chicago 1/2 marathon! This is my lifelong want- granted if you knew me and my past life style, this would not a likely goal! But in the last two years I have really found a passion for exercise and more recently- running!
After the birth of our 4th child in December of 2011, I could not wait to take control of my body again and get healthy. While pregnant I gained only 25 lbs- which was fantastic because I was a diabetic with an insulin pump. It was not until I delivered by emergency c-section that all 25 lbs ( total weight 231) was from water only! Our lovely daughter was a full chubby 8 lbs 9 oz- but I was swelling from head to toe! Literally could not put in earring because my ear lobes were swollen! OKAY- this is going too far-!
At my 6 week appointment, I was down to 201, on February 2nd. I was given the clearance to exercise – more importantly running!

It doesn’t take Jim Cantorie to know it was not the best of spring or summer for running- it was either raining or over 100 degrees it seemed. Despite all that I did manage to run enough to run in my first ever official race. June 11th, I ran in my first 5k- and finished rather well at 39 minutes according to my app.

With the heat in the summer, I had to take a break. I have severe asthma and humidity is impossible for me. Next, my husband lost his full time job thus no money for races. Which both I was okay with- but as the fall as approached I knew I needed to get back to what I knew was great for me- so I acquired a treadmill!
It was slightly broken, so we toyed with fixing it over the last week. But quickly realized we needed a professional- SO now you are up to date!
Tomorrow morning at 5:45am, I will get to purchase my entry. At noon, the repair man will come tell me the fate of my injured treadmill – then we start our training.
Granted I have a goal time for next year right now of 1 hour 30 minutes. I am sure that might get adjusted to closer to 2 hours, but it is a goal none the less.
I am working with my primary doctor to control my asthma, and management of my health otherwise. I am used my summer to research advice, suggestions, and equipment. So all I have to do now is fix my treadmill, and get going.
I will post video blogs, photos, numbers, and all kinds of info as I go- some for your information- other stuff is just for my own documentation.
But at any time if you have question, suggestions, just encouragement- please feel free to leave a comment! I will do my best to keep this blog current, active, informative and entertaining!
